Referring to my No. of the
10th April 1848
I have now the honour to transmit Copy & translation of a letter from Lech, Jaoutae, Containing the report of the Prefect of Foochow on the examinations of the Crew & Passengers of the junk detained by the
Men-of-War
Schooner "Aurora".
I beg likewise to inclose copy of a report
thereto.
It will be observed that there is a great discrepancy between the declaration on oath of Mr. Robertson & the report now transmitted, as to the number of individuals in the detained Junk at the time of boarding her : - upon this Circumstance is laid great stress.
